🌟 Fifth Session – Power of Words: Extempore & Relay Speech
The fifth session of the PESE Lab was one of the most intellectually stimulating and enriching experiences so far. It revolved around the art of extempore speaking.
Each student was assigned a unique extempore topic in advance, allowing us to do thorough research and prepare our thoughts. When it was time to present, every individual stood up to speak on their topic, sharing valuable insights, perspectives, and information. The diversity of topics made the session highly informative and engaging, as we got to learn about various contemporary issues, social ideas, and personal opinions – all from our classmates.
This activity helped us improve our public speaking, critical thinking, and content organization. It pushed us to step out of our comfort zones, speak with confidence, and engage our audience through well-structured speeches.
Towards the end of the session, we participated in a fun yet thoughtful group activity called the Relay Speech. A group of 10 students was randomly selected and given a topic on the spot. Each student had to speak one line at a time, building upon what the previous speaker had said, based on their own understanding of the topic. What made this activity truly interesting was that some students spoke in favor, while others presented opposing viewpoints, making the speech dynamic and balanced.
